SUNRISE 5K RUN & WALK, SUNSET PARK, LAS VEGAS

THANK YOU to those who participated in the inaugural Sunrise 5K Run & Walk and for helping the Retail Packaging Association in their efforts to raise money for the Las Vegas chapter of The Make-A-Wish© Foundation. All proceeds went to Make-A-Wish©, the charity partner of the RPA, and nearly $11,000 was raised between the 5K, the RPA Golf Outing, generous donations and matching funds. The moving presentation made at the end of the first day of the 2008 Tradeshow highlighted the many challenges faced by the children for whom Make-A-Wish© has earnestly committed to help. It was obvious that we contributed to a great and deserving cause.

In the gyms and on the roads, some of us may ache and grumble as we go through our workouts. But, for many of these children, even simple activities are difficult and painful. We now are challenged to try to bring a little more joy and enrichment to their lives as they face struggles every day. That is why the Race Committee of the Sunrise 5K has put together a Pledge Form to raise additional funds for Make-A-Wish©. When registering for the 2009 Run & Walk, please consider a generous donation for this cause. We also ask that you seek a matching gift pledge from your employer. The 2009 Sunrise 5K Run & Walk will be held Wednesday, March 4^th, and we hope to raise the bar considerably with next year’s donations. In 2009, the Sunrise 5k will feature a measured course and event timing. Results will be posted within a couple of days. We are seeking two volunteers to assist us at the finish so, if you or anyone you know would like to help, please contact us at sunrise5krunwalk@yahoo.com. This email address has been established to give everyone a direct link to ask questions, make comments or provide general feedback about the 5K Run & Walk.

It’s not too early to start preparing for the 2009 Sunrise 5K Run & Walk, so let’s get moving and make this an exciting, fun and memorable event! It will be healthy for our bodies and, with everyone’s generous donations, our souls as well.
