John “Jack” Vonderhaar Passes Away

God was walking in the garden of life on March 24, 2018 when he saw Jack at the age of 91. He asked if Jack would like to go with him and Jack said “Yes”

For the last 38 years Greensboro, NC had been his home, shared with his loving and respected wife, Mary Lou of 68 years. Both previously lived in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Jack was born October 30, 1926 in Reading, Ohio, the son of Marie and Ed Vonderhaar

Their only child, a loving and admired daughter, Jill Vonderhaar lives in Greensboro NC

Family members are living in areas of Cincinnati and Oxford Ohio and Sarasota Florida

Jack was a veteran of World War II serving with the 77th, Division in the Asiatic-Pacific area on several islands before for the invasion of Japan. While on ship, the Atomic bomb was dropped which hastened the conclusion of activity and his Honorable Discharge.

Jack was a Sales Executive in the Retail Packaging industry with Century Packaging out of Atlanta GA. providing sales coverage in NC, SC, VA. He worked in the industry for several decades and retired in his 70’s after a very successful and enjoyable career. One of his favorite companies he represented was Shamrock Corporation Greensboro NC.

A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held 2pm Friday April 6 at River Landing, 1575 John Knox Dr. Colfax, NC 27235.

In his memory, Jack suggests you tell your family everyday you love them. Your neighbors and your friends that you cherish their friendship and when you pass a stranger stop and say Hello. Jack is very thankful for his long life. He thanks you all for the time we spent together, it was appreciated and wonderful! Au Revoir!!
